I've cut together a 2-minute, fast-paced collection of clips from video material currently available online from the archives. It's similar in ways to MUCH BETTER, the Ken Smith edit. I wonder if it's possible to place it in the Prelinger section, to which it may be more suitable, rather than in Open Source Movies? There's a 16-meg 320X240 mpeg-1 preview version available at:

I'll keep it there for a while unless there's a bandwidth problem.

Now THAT was great! A pure tease to what is availible in the collection. It was fun to pick out the clips, and made me go "What the heck?" at others. So, I've got a lot more stuff to discover.. :)

They're from the Ray Harryhausen Mother Goose short online here. RH made a few of those over fifty years ago in his parents' garage. Last year, two young animators finished his incomplete TORTOISE AND THE HAIR short from the series. It's the only one not currently in the public domain, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the other late 40's RH films show up in the Prelinger Archives someday. These Harryhausen fairytales can be found in discount bins of VHS tapes for a couple of dollars each. I haven't seen them on DVD.

This preview will be taken down soon. It's burning up a lot of bandwidth. At some point, I'll post the full-res file, probably in Open Source Movies.

The preview on my site has been taken down. It used too much bandwidth, so it had to go.

The movie, HOT PRELINGER ON A BUN, has been posted at Open Source Movies, and should show up within a few days.

There are also two companion compilations, PRELINGER ASEMBLED! and PRELINGER ARE CHIVES!, posted to Open Source. Each is about a couple of minutes long and features original, soothing music by me.

Check 'em out when they become available. Look for these keywords:
archive;clips;collection;wrecks;crash;car;cartoon;animation;stunt;strippers;monkeys
